Tossa de Mar is the only coastal place of Catalonia with a nearly intact fortification from the Middle Ages. The Vila Vella became Monumento Nacional in 1931 and is under protection. The walk on the wall, past 7 towers, permits a great view at the Mediterranean Sea and nearly at the entire town. From the above mentioned hotels only the Club Hotel Giverola (five km outside from Tossa de Mar, own coach connection to the city) and the Hotel Mar Menuda lie directly on the seashore.
