In Tossa de Mar, in the 15th century the first houses were built beyond the city wall. Then, in the 17th and 18th century even a regular population explosion was to be registered what led to the today's "Old Town". Only in 1950, after the film Pandora with Ava Gardner, Tossa de Mar became an attraction and the mass tourism started to develop, which changed the character of the whole town completely. Tourisme is today the biggest "employer", even if only for five months in the year.
